You actually do come out if the womb racist, there’s literally been research into this. It is a widely known fact among anyone who actually does research into white supremacy that yes, white people are inherently racist and your allyship will only get you so far unless you accept this fact. When you live in a white supremacist society as a white person, that makes you inherently racist and you can cry about it or do something about it. Your choice.

Children as young as 3 not only have an acute awareness of race, but they also already have been shown to have racial prejudice.

That’s true….but I still have an issue with the “come out of the womb racist” argument. Babies can’t even form conscious thoughts so I don’t think they can be racist.

But once they start developing cognitive abilities…oh yes, if you’re raised in a racist household the prejudice will manifest itself quickly and virulently.

If racism can affect black babies before they even come out if the womb, the same can be said for white babies.

1. Racism, as a definition, goes beyond someone’s thoughts, feelings, prejudices, and biases about a person of another race. Racism is an inherently systemic issue meaning, white people who are the literal picture perfect model of an ally or race-traitor, still exist in a white-supremacist society and culture.

When white people come out the womb racist, (not to speak over gem; I’m not entirely sure I understand how they’re meaning that statement) they are born in to a social, cultural and historical landscape of white supremacy. The land their house is built on; the state, it’s laws, it’s military and police forces; it’s economic systems and arrangements; it’s cultural tendencies and long held traditions; all of these are built for and by White Supremacy.

If a black mother cannot pay for the formula because she lives in a low-income neighborhood or if an immigrant family struggles to maintain citizenship or to have their culture/religion meaningfully represented or respected, it’s literally because of the history and current culture of White Supremacy.

Racism isn’t determined mainly by your actions towards people of color, even though it’s the most obvious or direct in the moments. This whole world, and very specifically the U.S., has shaped it in a very particular way, all of which contains the seeds of White Supremacy to sprout and perpetuate itself.

2. Racism, when it is in discussion of interpersonal or intercultural incidents, is inevitable. Which makes the individual responsible for unpacking the racism they’ve been steeped in their entire lives like tea bags. And those of us who are oppressed, have every right and recourse to call them on their racism.

Here’s the bit, white children come out the womb racist, not because their shitty little goblins because white people are inherently morally corrupt or some shit, but because the society of the parents that conceived them, that they are then born into, has this specific colonial, antiblack, cultural baggage that they become a part of.
