i said it before and I’ll say it again but funny how like. people never want to actually protect kids. just some imaginary Ideal of Children. they don’t talk about the fact that minors are treated like property of their parents or how much abuse and assault comes from family and close friends, they won’t think of children as thinking beings with agency, they won’t do anything about abusive therapy against disabled kids but they sure will go full-on #SaveTheChildren from trafficking bogeymen and 30 year old Fandom Moms and scary transfems and gnc gay men (that often all combine in their mind in some dangerous horror figure) in order to feed the satanic panic 2.0

it’s because their means of “protecting children” means controlling other people. they won’t acknowledge that authoritarian behavior is the wellspring of abuse because that’s antithetical to their entire worldview of “how to prevent evil in a society.”
