I’m here for people finally acknowledging that Finn had as much as a bond with Han Solo as Rey did. I have seen a lot of people go on about how his death affected people like Rey, Luke and Leia. But Finn rarely gets mentioned as someone who was also visually impacted by his death. Han Solo was one of the few people that treated Finn as an equal. We not only saw Finn feeling comfortable enough to show Han that he was unsure and afraid, but still wanted to save his friend. But Han knowing that Finn was lying about being Resistance, never once outed him to Rey or anybody else (not even Chewie). Instead he made it known to Finn that he knew the truth and waited for Finn, in his own time to confess.
When Finn said he wanted to leave, Han didn’t try to guilt trip him to stay and fight the First Order. He didn’t judge Finn’s past as a strormtrooper. He respected his choice. When Finn returned he accepted him back without questioning. And when Finn offered to go to Starkiller Base he accepted his help….again without question. Even if realistically anyone else could have distrusted Finn considering his background.
Anyway, Han and Finn’s relationship was important and people shouldn’t ignore it. I wish there were more metas and stories actually exploring it and dealing with how Finn dealt with the loss of a good friend and paternal figure. Because Han was much as a paternal figure to Finn as he was for Rey.
